Spencer was beaten this time in an exhibition frame off levels by Arthur Horsfield. The following frame Don `Dons` Hughes played Spencer but was reduced to being a spectator as the magical Spencer cleared the table with a 111 break!

The year after this, the extremely well-liked and popular John Spencer went on to win his 3rd world title.
